Modern History

The Samuel Wilkey House, in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island's east side, is a genuine American colonial that dates back to 1794. Thankfully, it's been beautifully maintained, restored and updated, and the mix of historic details and modern touches make it one of the most charming homes we've seen in ages. Asking $399K, there are just 2 beds/2 baths and around 1250 square feet, but what's small to some is perfect for others, and the wide plank floors, 12-over-12 windows, interior shutters, four fireplaces and gourmet kitchen are pretty darned perfect. The kitchen has french doors that lead out to a sweet backyard patio and garden, which is where you'd find us from May to October. You can walk to just about anything, including Fellini's, who serve some of the best thin crust pizza in the state! For more info/pics, go here
