Character Study

An awful lot of loft conversions leave us feeling...bored. They all look the same—with the same windows, same kitchens, same layouts in every unit of a building, they have all the uniqueness of a hotel. But this 2 bed/2 bath in Philadelphia's scruffy-cool Fishtown nabe has both character and charm. A freight elevator opens directly into the unit, which has 13 foot high ceilings clad in worn timber, brick walls, open duct work, original wood floors, and windows everywhere. The quirks might not be to everyone's taste (like the huge tub in the corner of a bedroom, or the walls put up to carve out some privacy), but we find them interesting and fun. $495K includes a small balcony and your very own fab rooftop deck with views of city's skyline and the Delaware waterfront. It's the return of loft living! Take a closer look here
